Need / motivation
 
To efficiently perform the daily work, the employees of an enterprise need internal documents, information coming from diverse sources (both internal and external) and easy access to corporate applications.
In addition to that formalized information, they also need to get in touch with other people, either in synchronous or asynchronous mode, in such a way that their knowledge and experience can be integrated in an efficient decision making or production process.
 
Focalization
 
To address the above outlined challenges, the Employee Portal provides an excellent framework, taking advantage of the possibilities of the web technology: single interface access (through the use of internet navigator application) to a large number of contents and applications, presented in a coherent format, and fulfilling their requirements.
 
 
Objectives
 
This single interface offers:
 
  Access to the information needed, at the right time and in the adequate format, be that information based on documents, or through corporate, departmental, or personal applications.
     
  Eliminate the barriers due to geography or time zones.
     
  Provide an authentication and access control system to the enterprise information resources.
     
  Have access to, and be available for, all people in the organization, facilitating that way team collaboration.
 
 
 Solution
 
A web application, the Employee Portal, integrating the following functionalities:
 
       
Validation and authentication system. Integrated, if required, with the enterprise LDAP services.
  Content management: corporate and departmental documents. Office tool integration. Document version control.  
  Workflow integration.  
  Adequate user segmentation through the definition of roles and profiles.  
  Corporate tools assigned to departments, projects, etc. depending on their needs.  
  Corporate application integration: ERP, CRM, HHRR, etc.  
  Taking into account social aspects, coherently with the specific corporate culture.
